Eurovision 2027 in Burgas: a guide for brands and organisers

On 13 August 2026 it became official: the 71st Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Burgas, following Bulgaria's historic win in Vienna. The three live shows are on 11, 13 and 15 May 2027, at Arena Burgas. For the city it is the biggest event in its modern history — and a wave of demand that arrives long before May.

Arena Burgas sits in the Izgrev district, a short ride from the centre. Opened in 2023, it is a multifunctional venue — home to the Chernomorets basketball team — with around 5,500 seats, rising to nearly 15,000 with standing spectators. A large modern arena means complex stage lighting and fast, crowded nights — conditions where photography needs experience, not luck.

But Eurovision isn't only the three shows. A whole production revolves around them: delegations from dozens of countries, international press, sponsors and brands with activations, hotels and venues preparing months ahead, side concerts and fan zones. All of it needs images — for media, for social, for reports, for advertising.

Who benefits? Local businesses that prepare early. A hotel wanting professional photos of its refreshed rooms before the influx. A restaurant with a new seasonal menu. A brand running an activation near the stage. An organiser of a side event. They will all look for a photographer — and most will want someone already here, who knows the venues and doesn't arrive from abroad at a premium.

So my advice to brands and organisers is simple: **book a local photographer early.** The calendar around 11–15 May 2027 will fill quickly, and a good event photographer can't be in two places. Booking early gives you something else too — time to shoot calmly in advance (product, location, team), instead of everything in one tense day.

Three things that are often missed in event photography and cost dearly later. First — **usage rights.** Agree in advance where and how long you'll use the images (website, advertising, press), so there are no surprises. Second — **fast delivery.** For press and social, one frame today is worth more than a perfect gallery in a week; agree a selection turnaround within hours. Third — **access and accreditation.** Shooting inside Arena Burgas on the official days is arranged with the organiser; aerial drone shots need clearance for the specific location, arranged in advance.
