Drone + Airbnb in Burgas — how aerial views lift bookings

Airbnb hosts in Burgas had one thing right — the guest doesn't rent an apartment. They rent a feeling. Proximity to the sea, the view, the quiet, the neighbourhood, the air around the place.

Your photos have to show that before anyone reads the description.

That's exactly where the drone changes the equation. It shows what a ground-level camera can't — where the property actually sits, and what surrounds it.

The first frame the guest meets at the door — sets the expectation.

The first photo someone sees in a listing sets the expectation for the whole stay.

The first question almost every host asks me is:

Is it worth it?

Short answer — yes.

Industry data: listings with aerial photos see roughly 28% more bookings than listings with ground-level photos only. In practice, that's often the difference between 12 and 16 booked nights a month.

Over a year, that's the difference between a listing that simply exists and one that actually earns.

What the drone shows that ground-level photos can't

An aerial frame gives context:

  • how close the sea is
  • where the park sits
  • how the neighbourhood looks
  • whether there's a real view
  • the actual distance to the beach.
Same property, from inside — what follows the aerial shot.

When someone scans dozens of Burgas listings, they remember the one that shows clearly:

The sea, 200 metres from the door.

"Close to the beach" is just text. The aerial frame is proof.

When the drone is NOT the right answer

Not every property needs aerial photography.

For:

  • small studios with no view
  • apartments hemmed in by high-rises
  • units without open space or horizon
  • places without an interesting surrounding

interior photography often matters more than drone shots.

I always say this honestly up front. The goal isn't to add a service — it's to make the listing look as strong as possible and actually perform.

What gear I work with

For aerial work I mostly use:

  • DJI Mavic 4 Pro
  • DJI Avata FPV
  • Sony Alpha system for interior photography.

Drone work lets the frame move smoothly from the beach to the terrace, or from the neighbourhood to the unit itself — something that performs especially well on social media and the listing's own video.

I work with the required EU licences and registration with the Bulgarian CAA. That matters for commercial properties and flights in urban areas.

What an Airbnb package includes

The standard package includes:

  • aerial drone photos
  • interior photography
  • a short vertical video for phone and social media.
This is the interior half — open plan, everything in one frame.

Usually:

  • 25–40 edited interior frames
  • 8–12 aerial frames
  • a short cinematic video
  • files prepared specifically for Airbnb.

In 2026 video isn't an extra. The platform now favours listings with stronger visuals and video content.

The best spots around Burgas for drone work

Some areas look especially good from above:

  • Sarafovo — sea view
  • Krajmorie — quiet and beach
  • Pomorie — salt lakes and sea in one frame
  • Sveti Vlas — yachts and marina
  • Old Nesebar — historic atmosphere
  • Lazur — park, sea, and city texture.

Each area has its own strongest angle.

Bedroom — muted tones, natural light from the window.

The best time to shoot

The most beautiful light is around sunset:

  • in summer roughly 19:30–20:30
  • in autumn roughly 18:00–18:45.

I avoid midday because of the hard shadows and overpowering light.

For east-facing units we often shoot early morning instead.

Weather and planning

The drone doesn't fly:

  • in rain
  • in strong wind
  • in low visibility.

So I always plan:

  • a target day for the shoot
  • plus one or two backup days.

This matters especially in spring and autumn.

The bottom line

These photos will keep working for your listing for years.

A good photo set isn't an expense. It's an investment — more bookings, a stronger first impression, a clearer presence among the rest of the listings.

The first call is free. Just send the location and a rough date for when the listing should go live.
